I think you start with your eyes open, you think about yourself, do the assessment of what your skills are, and abilities, and aptitudes. You do a lot of research. Don't just settle for the first thing that comes along, or settle because your uncle or somebody else has said something was great. I call it the Ice Cream Rule, just because an ice cream really tastes good doesn't mean that franchisor is the right franchise brand for you. You have to do your research, be diligent, above all be patient. People act too emotionally with their decisions and in my opinion too quickly, so you need to use your heart, you need to be enthused about your business, but you really need to engage your brain.
